Venezuela 1986 1 bolivar
The name 'Republica de Venezuela' replaced 'Estados Unidos de Venezuela' on all coinage from 1953. Bolivar fractionals and multiples continued to be silver until 1965, at which point they were converted to nickel.
Shown is a 1986 one bolivar, composition nickel, minted in Werdohl, Germany. The obverse features the portait of Simon Bolivar, recognized as liberator of the Venezuelans from rule by the Spanish. The portrait was designed by Albert Barré in Paris. The reverse features the coat of arms, denomination, and date.
