Venezuela 1958 5 centimos rev DC.jpg

The name 'Republica de Venezuela' replaced 'Estados Unidos de Venezuela' on all coinage from 1953. Bolivar fractionals and multipules continued to be silver until 1964, at which point they became nickel in composition.

This specimen is from a one-year type struck in Philadelphia for Venezuela in 1958; earlier versions from 1945-48 were very similar. The superseding type (KM Y38.2) was struck in Madrid.

Recorded mintage: 25,000,000.

Specification: copper-nickel.

Catalog reference: KM Y38.1.
