This specimen was lot 859 in Jean Elsen sale 137 (Brussels, June 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
" ESPAGNE, Royaume, Ferdinand et Isabelle (1474-1504), AV 1/2 excelente, s.d., Séville. D/ FERNANDVS: ET: HELISA: Lettre F ornée et couronnée, entre deux S. R/ REX: ET: REGINA: CAST: L: Lettre Y ornée et couronnée, entre deux étoiles. Rare. Très Beau. (kingdom of Spain, Ferdinand and Isabella, 1474-1504, undated gold half excelente, Seville mint. Obverse: ornate, crowned "F" between two "S's"; reverse: ornate, crowned "Y" between two stars. Rare, very fine.)"
This type is listed for Burgos, Granada, Segovia, Seville (shown here), Toledo and Valencia. It is considerably scarcer than the large excelente.
