Saxony 1630 thaler Dav-7606

This specimen was lot 24803 in Heritage sale 3015 (Long Beach, September 2011), where it sold for $920. The catalog description[1] noted, "Saxony. Johann Georg I Taler 1630, AU55 NGC (jumbo holder), nicely toned with bold features, on the Centennial of the Augsburg Confession, Johann Georg facing right with sword in one hand and date 1630, legend as EXHIBITAES." In addition to this commemorative type (Dav-7605, Dav-7605A, Dav-7606), there is the regular issue of 1620-38 (Dav-7601) and a klippe (Dav-7609), all dated 1630.
