Kunker sale 264, lot 3905
This specimen was lot 3905 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €4,500 (about US$5,813 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"PREUSSEN Wilhelm I. 1861-1888. 10 Mark 1882, A. Sehr seltener Jahrgang. In überdurchschnittlicher Qualität. Fast vorzüglich. (kingdom of Prussia, William I, 1861-88, ten mark of 1882, very rare date, choice extremely fine.)"
Altho this type of 1874-88 was struck in large numbers and is common, there are several rare dates in the series, of which this is one. It was produced at Berlin (shown here), Hanover (mintmark "B") and Frankfurt (mintmark "C").

Recorded mintage: 8,382.

Specification: 3.98 g, .900 fine gold.
