Peru 1955 100 soles
The type was struck in Lima 1950-70 in limited numbers as a bullion coin. This date is not common; some dates are rare (<200 pieces). Gold five, ten, twenty and fifty soles were struck during the same period. This specimen was lot 1505 in Ponterio sale 182 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $2,702.50. The catalog description noted, "PERU. 100 Soles, 1955. NGC MS-63. From a mintage of 901 pieces."
