The 1853-D quarter eagle is 8th most scarce (out of 20) with fewer than 100 known. This example from the Three Rivers Collection has a striking prooflike appearance. The Dahlonega mint issued this type 1840-57 and 1859 but always in small quantities.

Specification: 4.18 g, .900 fine gold, .120 troy oz AGW, 18 mm diameter.
