This type, struck 1853-55 in large quantities, is available in circulated condition. The weight was reduced from 6.68 g to 6.22 g in 1853, along with the other silver coinage, and arrows added 1853-55 to note the change.
Recorded mintage: 15,210,020 (highest mintage of all quarters prior to 1876) plus 44,200 without arrows.
Specification: 6.22 g, .900 fine silver, .180 troy oz ASW, 24.3 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by Christian Gobrecht.
