Nicaragua 1887-H 20 centavos

This specimen, struck for Nicaragua by the Heaton mint in Birmingham, England, was the second twenty centavos struck for that country. It is accompanied by silver five and ten centavos. In 1912 the peso was dropped in favor of the cordoba and new coins issued. This type is not scarce except in Uncirculated or Proof. The second specimen was lot 1598 in Ponterio sale 173 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $822. The catalog description[1] noted, "NICARAGUA. 20 Centavos, 1887-H. Light peripheral toning. NGC SP-63. From the Luis H. Flores Collection."
