This specimen was lot 72449 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2020), where it sold for $156. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES. United East India Company. Duit, 1745. Zeeland Mint. PCGS AU-53 Gold Shield. A decently struck Duit with full design detail, glossy surfaces, and a very dark brown patina throughout." This duit, struck with the arms of Zeeland, was issued 1736-52. It varied from the prior KM 152.1 by having the obverse shield pointed at the bottom. The design was revised for the subsequent type (KM 152.3 of 1753-92). Holland, Westfriesland, Gelderland and Utrecht also struck duits for the East Indies. Presentation strikes exist in silver and gold but not for this type.
