This issue minted in Lisbon for the Portuguese colony of Mozambique, is one of a type struck 1973-74, as the Portuguese colonial wars were thrashing to their end. The coin is common. In the mid-1960's, nationalists in Mozambique began their agitation for independence, triggering a multifactional war that continued after the Portuguese withdrew in 1975.
