This issue, minted in Lisbon for the Portuguese colony of Mozambique, is a one year type. Previous issues were dated 1949-50 and subsequent issues are dated 1971 and 1973-74. The coin is common. Soon after this coin was issued, nationalists in Mozambique began their agitation for independence, triggering a multifactional war that continued after the Portuguese withdrew in 1975.
