Mozambique 1950 escudo
This issue, minted in Lisbon for the Portuguese colony of Mozambique, is from a type issued 1950-51 in fairly large numbers. This date is scarce tho the issues from the 1960's are common. It is accompanied by a bronze twenty centavos and silver 2½ escudos. In the 1960's, nationalists in Mozambique began their agitation for independence, triggering a multifactional war that continued after the Portuguese withdrew in 1975.
