Mozambique 1935 2-1/2 escudos

It and the accompanying five escudos represent the first twentieth century issues for Mozambique. In the 1960's, nationalists in Mozambique began their agitation for independence, triggering a multifactional war that continued after the Portuguese withdrew in 1975.
