This specimen was lot 11226 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $276. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Mexico City. 8 Reales, 1882-MoMH. NGC MS-63. Lightly toned." The Mexico City mint produced large quantities of eight reales 1823-97 and most dates are readily available, including this one. An 1882/1 overdate is noted.

Recorded mintage: 2,746,000.

Specification: 27.07 g, .903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
