This specimen was lot 72599 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 5 Centavos, 1879-Do B. Durango Mint. PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield. A decently struck example early date for this mint with rich old envelope tone." Shown is an 1879-Do B five centavos, of a type struck 1874, 1877-81, 1887-94. This issue from Durango is a scarce date. Other mints include Alamos, Culiacan, Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Chihuahua, Hermosillo, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Oaxaca and Potosi.
Recorded mintage: unknown but a very scarce date.
