Ponterio sale 155, lot 6195

This specimen was lot 6195 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $345. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Alamos. 8 Reales, 1879-ML. Ex: Ponterio Auction #146, lot #355. Sharply struck, toned UNCIRCULATED." The Alamos mint struck eight reales 1864-95. Many of the early dates are rare but this one is only scarce. Assayer DL is also recorded for the year as a common date.
