Sedwick sale 25, lot 1234

This specimen was lot 1234 in Sedwick sale 25 (Winter Park, FL, May 2019), where it sold for $261.80. The catalog description[1] noted, "Durango, Mexico, cap-and-rays 8 reales, 1874CM, NGC MS 61, Resplandores Plate Coin. Lustrous fields with traces of rainbow toning, some darker areas over cap and rays, sharply detailed eagle, small scratch below eagle's wing, desirable pedigree. NGC #4625464-002. Plated in Dunigan and Parker's Resplandores (1997) and with paper flip from past collector." The regular date and the 1874/3 overdate are common but assayer JH is rare. Assayer CM is listed for 1873-77, while assayer JH is listed for 1874-75.
