This specimen was lot 21595 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $1,437.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 20 Pesos 1872Go-S, AU50 NGC, luster in the legends, small scattered surface marks." Guanajuato produced this denomination 1870-1900 in sufficient numbers that it is considered a common date for the type. Worn specimens are unusual but cleaned, nicked and damaged specimens less so.

Recorded mintage: 18,000.
