Stack's Bowers ANA sale, lot 1284

This specimen was lot 1284 in Stack's Bowers ANA auction (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $4,553.13. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Pesos, 1872-GaC. NGC MS-64. Lightly toned, lustrous and attractive. Reverse is somewhat prooflike." The Guadalajara mint struck this type 1870-81 and 1891 and all the dates are scarce to rare.

Recorded mintage: 780.

Specification: 16.92 g, .875 fine gold, .476 troy oz AGW.
