This specimen was lot 11019 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $1,998. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 20 Pesos, 1872-CnP. A VERY RARE survivor of a minuscule mintage of 972 pieces. Lightly cleaned long ago. EXTREMELY FINE." Despite a steady production of twenty pesos for 1870-1905, Culiacan remains a scarce mint for this denomination.
