Mexico 1861-Mo CH real

This specimen was lot 3564 in Goldberg sale 53 (Beverly Hills, May 2009), where it sold for $320. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico. 1 Real, 1861-Mo CH. Republic. Cap and rays. Lovely iridescent toning. NGC graded MS-65." This date is one of the most common for the type but examples of this quality always bring a premium. The type was struck at Mexico City 1825-33, 1850-63 with assayer CH recorded for 1861-69.
