Heritage sale 3010, lot 21572

This specimen was lot 21572 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $1,667.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Republic gold 8 Escudos 1854C-CE, XF45 NGC, evenly struck on a problem-free planchet, quite nice. From the Don Benito Collection of Hispanic Gold." The Culiacan mint struck eight escudos 1846-70 and most dates are reasonably available.
