This specimen was lot 3774 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO: Republic, AR ½ real, 1849/8-C, assayer CE, a bit of a soft strike, but nicely toned, EF to About Unc." This is a slightly better date of a slightly better mint. No regular dates are believed to exist for 1849. The Culiacan mint struck half reales 1846-49, 1852-63 and 1867-69.

Specification: 1.69 g, .903 fine silver, .049 troy oz ASW.
