Mexico 1849-Pi MC 8 reales

This eight reales is one of a series struck 1827-93 at the San Luis Potosi mint. This date is somewhat scarce. Assayer MC is recorded for 1849-60. This specimen was lot 6441 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $143.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Potosi. 8 Reales, 1849-MC. Slightly weak strike, lightly cleaned. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED."
