Mexico 1849-Mo GC 8 escudos

This specimen was lot 71208 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Escudos, 1849-MoGC. NGC MS-62. Excellent strike with warm toning throughout. Attractive luster and a great example for the grade." The specimen shown is a middle date of a series struck 1824-69 at the Mexico City mint. That mint struck all denominations, silver, gold and copper. This date is slightly scarce, tho many dates are rare.
