Mexico 1849-Mo GC 8 escudos

from the Stack's Bowers 2018 Collector's Choice sale, lot 71208

This specimen was lot 71208 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Escudos, 1849-MoGC. NGC MS-62. Excellent strike with warm toning throughout. Attractive luster and a great example for the grade." The specimen shown is a middle date of a series struck 1824-69 at the Mexico City mint. That mint struck all denominations, silver, gold and copper. This date is slightly scarce, tho many dates are rare.

Specification: 27.07 g, .875 fine gold, .760 troy oz AGW.
