This specimen was of lot 24426 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $1,057.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 1 Escudo 1849 Ga-JG, MS64 NGC. Fully lustrous and well struck with reflective surfaces. Rare in this Choice condition." The Guadalajara mint struck this type 1825-60; the SCWC prices this date only 25% higher than a common Mexico City issue.
