Mexico 1846-GC MP 1/2 real
This specimen was lot 73217 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Real, 1846-GC MP. Guadalupe y Calvo Mint. NGC AU-53. Great detail and only minor, honest wear highlight this charming and VERY RARE example, the only specimen for the date in the NCG census. An excellent opportunity for a difficult issue. Ex: Richard Ponterio Collection." This date was struck at the Guadalupe y Calvo mint in 1846. This mint struck silver and gold coins 1844-52, with half reals recorded for 1844-51. The issues of Guadalupe y Calvo are the third rarest mint after Estado de Mexico and Hermosillo.
