Mexico 1801-Mo FT 4 reales

Shown is an 1801MoFT 4 reales, one of a type struck 1792-1808 in Mexico City. Assayer FM, recorded for the years 1784-1801, is quite a bit more common for 1801 than assayer FT, recorded for 1801-03. The four reales is the scarcest of the colonial silver denominations and when found is usually in low grade. Harris^[1] notes that Potosi mint four reales are about twice as common as Mexico City issues.
