Stephen Album sale 37, lot 2897

This specimen was lot 2897 in Stephen Album sale 37 (Santa Rosa, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $53.55. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH INDIA: Edward VII, 1901-1910, AE ¼ anna, 1903 (c), PCGS graded MS63 RB." This quarter anna was struck at the Calcutta mint 1903-06. The weight was reduced to 4.83 g in 1906 and thence to 4.72 g in 1909. A quarter anna was one sixty fourth of a rupee.

Recorded mintage: 105,974,000 + proofs.

Specification: 6.48 g, bronze, 25.4 mm diameter, plain edge.
