Sincona sale 43, 3250
This specimen was lot 3250 in Sincona sale 43 (Zurich, October 2017), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$477 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Hessen, Grossherzogtum, Ernst Ludwig, 1892-1918 20 Mark 1906 A. Berlin. Fast vorzüglich. (Germany, grand duchy of Hesse, Ernest Louis, 1892-1918, twenty mark of 1906, Berlin mint. About extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1905-11 at the Berlin mint and is rather scarce in circulated condition. Ernest Louis was the last grand duke of Hesse, abdicating upon the collapse of the German Empire in 1918.

Recorded mintage: 85,000 plus 199 proofs.

Specification: 7.96 g, .900 fine gold, .230 troy oz AGW, this specimen 7.95 g.
