Sincona sale 20, lot 3724

This specimen was lot 3724 in Sincona sale 20 (Zurich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 950 (about US$1,191 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "[Haldenstein.] Taler 1623. Sehr schön-gutes sehr schön. (very fine or better.)" Haldenstein was a barony in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. It is about two miles down the river Rhine from the town of Chur, which also issued coins. The last coins are dated 1695.
