This specimen was lot 122 in Jean Elsen sale 146 (Brussels, November 2020), where it sold for €1,800 (about US$2,623 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"FRANCE, Royaume, Louis XIV (1643-1715), AV louis d'or à l'écu, 1691M couronné, Metz. Flan neuf. D/ T. vieillie à d., coiffée d'une perruque laurée. Différent: bombe enflammée (Claude Nicolas Boullard d'Ingonville). R/ Ecu de France couronné. Différent: coeur (Etienne Racle). Rare Gradé PCGS AU55. presque Superbe. Provient de Künker, vente 190, Osnabrück, 21 juin 2011, 3170. (kingdom of France, Louis XIV, 1643-1715, gold louis of the shield of 1690, Metz mint, crowned M mintmark, first reformation (small star below the shield). Obverse: laureate and peruked head right, privy mark flaming bomb; reverse: crowned arms of France, privy mark heart. Rare, about Extremely Fine.)"
