Banco Nacional de Costa Rica. 5 Colones, 1941. P-204. Uncirculated. Printed by ABNC. A multicolored design featuring intricate lathe work. Juan Mora Fernandez pictured at center. Good centering, and excellent detail throughout."

This specimen was lot 7235 in Ponterio sale 154 (Baltimore, June 2010), where it sold for $708. The catalog description[1] noted, "COSTA RICA. 20 Colones, 12.1.1944. P-202c. A highly scarce denomination which is always sought after. This note shows the last date for the catalog number and is seen in a pleasing problem free circulated grade."

P-207b. A rare note in Uncirculated grades and this piece is just that. Pack fresh with deeply embossed paper, a vibrant impression and lovely technical quality. Centering alone prevents a Gem assessment."

Banco Nacional De Costa Rica. 100 Colones, 21.12.1949. P-212a. A scarce highest denomination note which shows with the Sub-Gerente overprint at lower right. Evenly circulated and pressed."
