Sincona sale 47, lot 2795
This specimen was lot 2795 in Sincona sale 47 (Zurich, May 2018), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$480 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND, Grisons, Chur, Bistum, Ulrich VI. von Mont, 1661-1692. 15 Kreuzer (Viertelgulden) 1688, Chur. Vorzüglich. Walzenprägung in überdurchschnittlicher Erhaltung. (bishopric of Chur, Ulrich VI of Mont, 1661-92, fifteen kreuzer/quarter gulden of 1688, Chur mint. Extremely fine, Extraordinary condition.)"
Chur, among with the rest of Switzerland, left the Empire in 1648 as part of the Treaty of Westphalia which ended the Thirty Years War. This type was struck 1688-90 and seems to be the only coin of this denomination listed for this century.
