The specimen shown was lot 2324 in Aureo y Calico sale 232 (Barcelona, March 2011), where it sold for 41 euros (about $67.65 including buyer's fees).

The catalog description[1] noted,
"1802. Santiago. JJ. 1/2 real. Rara. BC/BC+." (Half real of 1802, Santiago mint. Rare, Very Good to Fine.)
This type was issued from Santiago 1792-1808 and despite the trifling mintage recorded below, is considered a common date.

Recorded mintage: 81,000.

Specification: 3.38 g, .896 fine silver, .098 troy oz ASW.
