The specimen shown was lot 232 in Aureo y Calico sale 232 (Barcelona, March 2011), where it sold for 950 euros (about $1,567 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"1799. Santiago. DA. 4 reales. Muy bella. Brillo original. Muy rara así. EBC/EBC+. (Four reales of 1799, Santiago mint; attractive and rare, with original luster, extremely fine to choice extremely fine.)This type was issued from Santiago 1792-1808 and despite the trifling mintage recorded below, is not considered the key date.
