Aureo sale 243, lot 698

This specimen was lot 698 in Aureo y Calicó sale 243 (Barcelona, April 2012), where it sold for 220 € (about $332 including buyer's fees).

The catalog[1] noted,
"1796. Carlos IV. Santiago. DA. 2 reales. Pátina. Buen ejemplar. Rara así. MBC/MBC+. (two reales of 1796, Santiago mint. Toned, rare thus, choice very fine.)"
This type was issued from Santiago 1792-1808 and, tho not common, is less rare than preceding types.

Recorded mintage: 66,000.

Specification: 6.77 g, .896 fine silver, .194 troy oz ASW.
