This specimen was lot 40067 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), where it sold for $1,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE. 8 Escudos, 1794-So DA. Santiago Mint. Charles IV (1788-1808). NGC AU-58. Decent strike with plenty of luster remaining in the fields and dark golden toning. A wholesome and attractive example sure to be a welcome addition to the next collection it enters." This type was struck 1791-1808 and is reasonably available. Note the use of Charles III's bust and the name of Charles IV.
