This specimen was lot 31233 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $1,175. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carlos IV 4 Reales 1794 So-DA, AU50 NGC. Attractively toned with deep blue flashes on the reverse. The bust details are well-struck, and abundant mint luster resides in the legends. Scarce grade for this denomination." This type was issued from Santiago 1792-1808 and, tho not common, is much less rare than preceding types.
