This specimen was lot 1054 in Sincona sale 38 (Zurich, May 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Carlos IV. 1788-1808 1 Escudo 1797. Potosi Sehr schön. Kleine Kratzer. (Bolivia, Charles IV, 1788-1808, one escudo of 1797, Potosi mint. Very fine, Minor scratches.)"This type is very scarce as is most colonial gold from Bolivia. Some of the later dates have recorded mintages under a thousand.
