This specimen was lot 1837 in Sincona sale 38 (Zurich, May 2017), where it sold for 2,400 CHF (about US$2,878 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Ferdinand I. 1835-1848 4 Dukaten 1848. Wien. Vorzüglich. Winz. Kratzer. (empire of Austria, Ferdinand I, 1835-48, quadruple ducat of 1848, Vienna mint. Extremely fine. Minor scratches.)"This type was struck 1835-48 and is common for this denomination. Quadruple ducats were struck in various types for Ferdinand and Francis Joseph for the rest of the century.
