Austria 1705-IMH thaler Dav-1013
This specimen was lot 6044 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $223.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Taler, 1705-IMH. Vienna Mint. Joseph I (1705-11). PCGS Genuine--Tooled, AU Details Secure Holder. Struck in the first year of the short reign of Joseph I. Struck with slightly rusted dies which nevertheless gave good detail to the ornate armor and coiffure of the king's portrait. Obverse fields tooled which has been toned over by the deep old gray toning which pervades most of the surfaces. From the Mezo-Toth Kalman Collection." This type is listed for 1705-10 and is common.
