The specimen shown is from a type struck for Australia 1966-84. This type was struck in large numbers and no dates are rare altho the 1972 is scarce. The succeeding type (KM 80) used the Maklouf bust of the queen 1985-98. This denomination superseded the old sixpence.

Recorded mintage: 35,436,000 plus 61,000 proofs.

Specification: 2.83 g, copper-nickel, 19.41 mm diameter.
