This specimen was lot 493 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it sold for $152.75. The catalog description noted, "TURKEY: Mehmet VI, 1918-1924, AV 25 kurush, Kostantiniye, AH1336 year 1, Unc." Muhammed VI, the last Ottoman sultan, reigned 1918-24 until his deposition by Kemal Ataturk. During his brief tenure, gold 25, 50, 100, 250 and 500 kurush were issued both in regular milled format as shown here and in wide monnaie de luxe format. Most are rare but this one is somewhat scarce.
