This specimen was lot 708 in Áureo y Calicó sale 345 (Barcelona, March 2020), where it sold for €285 (about US$376 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''1853. Isabel II. Barcelona. 10 reales. Bella. Brillo original. Ex Colección Isabel de Trastámara 29/10/2015, nº 1166. Rara y más así. S/C-.'' (kingdom of [[Spain]], Isabel II, ten reales of 1853, Barcelona mint. Handsome, original luster, rare thus, about uncirculated.)"</blockquote> This type was struck in Barcelona, Madrid and Seville 1851-56. Instead of the traditional "M" and "S" mintmarks the issues are distinguished by three, four, six, seven or eight pointed stars on the reverse (for Segovia, Jubia, Madrid (shown here), Seville and Barcelona). In 1850, the twenty reales was reduced to 26.91 grams and the copper maravedis dropped in favor of 1/20, 1/10 and 1/5 reales.
