This specimen was lot 1004 in Ponterio sale 164 (New York, January 2012), where it sold for $___. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN. 8 Escudos, 1738-PJ. Seville Mint. High Grade 1738 Portrait Philip V 8 Escudos Philip V (1700-46). NGC AU-50." This scarce type was struck at Madrid 1728-30 and Seville 1729-38.
