This specimen was lot 245 in Áureo y Calicó sale 347 (Barcelona, March 2020), where it sold for €3,600 (about US$4,751 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"1703. Felipe V. Sevilla. J. 8 escudos. Tipo "cruz". 8-J-S-8. Ex Áureo 05/04/1995, nº 440. Rara. MBC+. (kingdom of Spain, Philip V, eight escudos of 1703, Seville mint, cross type. Rare, choice very fine.)"
This type was struck at Seville 1701-19. Assayers J and M are known for 1703. This date comes with the "J" next to "HISP" (shown here) or an "8" next to "HISP" (Cayón-9891). All dates are expensive.
