This specimen was lot 31226 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $5,760. The catalog description[1] noted, "Spain: Charles II gold Cob 8 Escudos 1691/0 S-M AU55 NGC, Seville mint. Glossy and lustrous, expressing clear doubling in the prominent central cross and surrounding features. Demonstrably close to Mint State and highly collectible thus." This cob eight escudos was struck for the entire length of Carlos's reign, 1666-99. All dates are expensive.
