This specimen was lot 2750 in Goldberg sale 103 (Los Angeles, February 2018), where it sold for $3,642.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Spain. Cob 4 Escudos, 1689-M (Seville). Charles II, 1665-1700. Finest and only specimen in the NGC census. Practically full shield and cross. Full 689 of date (possibly 9/8), nicely toned and RARE. NGC graded MS-61." This four escudos was struck 1689 and 1699 at Seville. It is among the last cobs struck in Spain.
